This Game of Business

Is it just me or are all (or at least most) stories classified as “fantasy” basically just big cliche-ridden collages formed from pieces of other fantasy books? Where is the originality, guys? I’ve come to the conclusion that most fantasy books follow these same basic rules:

1. There will be several “races”.

2. There will be at least one name (be it city or person) with an apostrophe in the middle of the word and the rest of the names will be something like “Eldon” or “Valdamir”.

3. They will speak in some kind of pretentious “ye olde high speech” or whatnot.

I applaud Stephen King for once again showing people how it SHOULD be done.
